The
United Nations Day was observed across the world on 24 October 2013. The UN Day
is observed to mark the anniversary of entry into force in 1945 of the UN
Charter. The founding document was ratified on this day by its signatories,
including the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.
With this, the United Nations came into being officially.
24
October is celebrated and observed as the UN day since the year 1948. In the
year 1971, the UN General Assembly recommended that this day should be observed
as the public holiday by the Member States.
