ARUNDHATI BHATTACHARYA - CHAIRMAN OF SBI


  • Arundhati Bhattacharya is has taken over as the chairperson of State Bank of India, the largest government sector bank.
  • The bank has a history of 207 years and this is the first time that a woman is taking the responsibilities as a chair person.
  • Bhattacharya is 57 years and she worked as SBI managing director and chief financial officer.
  • Preateep Chowdhury retired as SBI chairman on September 3. Arundhati Bhattacharya replaced him. 
  • Arundhati Bhattacharya is the first women to head a fortune 500 company in India.
